Kirby Wii to be named Return to Dream Land?

Kirby Wii could actually be Kirby Returns to Dream Land
It seems like we have been waiting for an official name for the next Kirby game coming to the Wii. We've seen gameplay trailers, screenshots and had in depth descriptions of gameplay but still not an official name.

According to a writer on the gaming website Siliconera, the name of the Kirby Wii game was mentioned while they were watching the game.

"Kirby Returns to Dreamland. A Nintendo rep mentioned it while I saw the Wii game."

I'm wary of information coming from Nintendo reps but the name sounds plausible enough. I guess we will have to wait for an official announcement from Nintendo to know for sure. What do you think?

Kirby Wii: Hugs all round?

One of the biggest draws to Kirby Wii is the cooperative gameplay features that the title has. However, this goes further than smashing up some Waddle Dees together.

When one character has picked up a piece of fruit, they can recover the other players health by hugging them. That's right, and you thought this game couldn't get any cuter.

Unlike New Super Mario Bros. Wii there doesn't seem to be a way to hinder your fellow players at all. Every action towards your fellow players will be beneficial to some way. What do you think of Kirby Wii's co op style? Makes gameplay much easier or more boring?

Miyamoto discusses the origins of Kirby's name

In an interview with Game Informer not too long ago Miyamoto was asked about the origins of Kirby's name. The question was:

I've heard rumors that Kirby was named after attorney John Kirby, the lawyer who defended Nintendo in a lawsuit by Universal during the 80s. Is it true?
Yes, it is a fact that I met John Kirby and got to know him when he was defending us during the lawsuit against Universal. And it is a fact that the Kirby name was partially chosen inconnection to him, but it wasn't named after him. Instead, we had a list of names that we were looking at and Kirby was one of the names on the list. As we were going through the list and narrowing down the selections we saw that Kirby was there and we thought John Kirby's name is Kirby, and started thinking that if those two had a connection that would be kind of funny.
The other element to the naming is that the character is very cute. Kirby is this soft and fluffy character and he's very cute. In Japan, for cute characters they use very soft names with soft sounds in them. I thought the name Kirby had these harsh sounds to it, and I thought the juxtaposition of this cute character with this harsh-sounding name was very funny.

More Kirby goodness comes to the 3DS in the form of trailers

I was presently surprised this afternoon when I opened the Nintendo 3DS eshop and saw a Kirby icon. With a simple tap of my finger I was presented with three Kirby trailers to enjoy. One of the upcoming DS game, Kirby Mass Attack, the second one was a trailer for the new Kirby channel on the Nintendo Wii and the third was a trailer of Kirby Wii.

So check out the Nintendo 3DS eshop for some great Kirby trailers!
